She did it again...

Well, my little daughter always amazes me. Today during school she was asked to make a list of 8 words to describe someone in your family. She chose mom and here's what she had to say. She's such a sweet girl!
P.S. I didn't tell her what to write either! And 'strog' means 'strong' in kid language.
I can't believe that we are already in the middle of Autumn! I'm a blogger slacker...I've been a little busy planning, planning, planning!
Have a great Autumn... at the rate I'm blogging it will be winter before my next post!

Pretty, pretty papers!

While reading something weddingish lately (which means within the past 2 months!), I ran across something I thought was worthy of sharing. Monique Lhuillier is a well known couture wedding dress designer and has now branched out into the stationery world. Her papers look luxurious and beautiful! I know that they are realistically more expensive than some brides wish to spend on invitations; however, they inspired me so much I just wanted to share that with you! I found them on Jean M's website. Aren't they gorgeous! Until my next little wedding rant...

Congratulations Ms. Editor!

Today I am going to take a minute to give praise to my little sister (no we are not twins!) who is the new Editor of Lake Lifestyles Magazine for the lake of the ozarks region. If there was a profession that I ever thought she would be in...this is not it. However, I am so proud of how she worked tireless hours, late nights, met crazy deadlines, and worked her way to where she is now. She has earned her position and has accepted the large responsibility that comes with the promotion from reporter to editor. I know that the community will benefit greatly with her as editor. So, go sis! I'm so proud of you!
Now get out there and edit. By the way...if you need any wedding related interviews I wonder where you will go??? Whatever! At least I try! :)

Proud Wedding Planner

So, I am a blogger slacker lately. Well, here is something that I found inspiring to me this morning. It's the little things...
Today as I woke up and was doing the usual pick up of the house while my daughter was still asleep, I saw something that made me so proud! On the floor in the living room I found a piece of paper that my daughter wrote on yesterday. It is kind of hard to see so I will reiterate what is says:
Buget
flowers 1100 $
Dreese 10 $
food 11 $
Drinks 18 $
There are a few reasons this made me smile:
First, I am a single mom and ever since my daughter was a one year old baby on my hip, she has been accompanying me when I do all of my business meetings with clients and vendors. Vendors have enjoyed seeing her grow up over the past five years. Clients have enjoyed the occasional phone conversation as she answered he phone and talked about who knows what on the phone with them!
Second, it proves that she is really getting a lot more out of the meetings and experiences than I or others realize. Whether or not she means to, she is learning valuable information about business.
Third, as a homeschooling mother wanting for my daughter to get more out of her education than just book smarts that she is learning is small ways the way that a business and the world works.
Fourth (and most important), because as a busy mom and business woman I often am so consumed with rushing around to get everything done that I forget to take time to slow down and enjoy the little moments with my child.
So, today I am going to take time to celebrate the wedding of my daughter's "friend" that she wanted me to come to yesterday at 1:00 PM. The food buffet has already been set up on the couch. And it is going to be gorgeous since the floral "budet" is $1,100.
Now, the only thing I am thinking is "what am I going to wear?"

One of my favorite celebrity quotes...

As I was reading/doing my homework engrossed in the February/March 2009 issue of Brides magazine, I read a quote that just stuck with me and I thought I'd throw it out there for all to see. Or at least all 2 people who read my blog!!

"[Keith Urban and I] gently, gently sort of fell into each other...We were just two lonely people who went, 'Ah, there you are...'" -Nicole Kidman

The bride and groom's style of understated elegance radiated as the theme of the wedding. Thank you to Travis Duncan Photography for providing the photography.

Never a Dull Moment

It's hard to believe but February has almost come and gone! I haven't posted in a while and thought I would let everyone know what I have been up to. I have welcomed many new clients since I last posted in January and am very thankful to be working with/for such great people. The past week was just crazy busy with homeschool, meetings, and the usual happenings of life. Here's a recap if anyone is interested. A few of my friends have been checking out my blog lately so I just want to say "Hay! --that's Oklahoman for Hey!)

On Friday, I had planned just enough time in between errands and meetings to run home and get lunch for my daughter. After all I am a planner and even that is planned as a production! Well, in the midst of my hurrying about, I must have either hit extra time on the microwave or there was already time on it and I added to it. Nonetheless, there was just enough time on there to 1) burn a veggie corndog to a crisp and 2) fill the kitchen with smoke and set off the smoke detectors. The good news is I now know the code to turn off the fire alarm, we didn't actually start our house on fire, and we got to practice our fire alarm drill. The bad news is that I've been airing out the house for days and the neighbors definitely now think we are crazy! (My neighbor was outside in his yard when I went running around the house to air it out with alarms blaring). And those things don't just shut off either like the old ones. I didn't know that! I finally was able to get everything under control just in time to run to my next appointment smelling like I had been fighting forest fires. All's well that ends well. By the way, I don't think I am called to be a chef.

I had so many meetings last week to places for which I was not familiar. After the second meeting that I was majorly lost searching for, I bought a GPS thingy. I think it will definitely come in handy for my wedding gypsy ways. I travel all the time! Why I waited so long to get one...probably because I don't have time to shop.

I got to meet some people in my new neighborhood lately too thanks to my run away dog Coco. He's is a four legged Houdini the ways he can escape. I am really getting tired of receiving calls that start out. I think I have your dog.

So, to summarize...fire alarms, runaway dogs, and aimless wandering in my car were top stories of last week. All the while doing the two most important things in my life, planning weddings and raising my daughter.

I promise to have some pics up soon on my blog for all to see of some of my wedding work.

Here's to hoping that this week is a thousand times better than last week!
